My younger sister was born when I was 3.5 years old. According to my mother, that was the day I decided I wanted to become a midwife. I have never had any other ambitions than this. After high school, I started midwifery training in Belgium. This program turned out not to align with my expectations, as the midwifery system in the Netherlands is quite unique.
What makes the Dutch system special is the natural approach to the pregnant woman; I really missed this in Belgium. I then chose the Midwifery Academy in Rotterdam, where I graduated in 2010. After that, I was able to start working immediately at Verloskundigen Rotterdam West, where I work with great pleasure! A midwife has the most beautiful job in the world; the special moment you share with parents is unique. I find it a challenge to tailor the guidance during pregnancy and childbirth to the wishes of the expectant mother and father.
I am now the proud mother of a daughter and two sons. As a result, I can now call myself an expert by experience, which I certainly consider an advantage in the practice of my profession!
Ik wens u een hele goede zwangerschap en bevalling toe, en ik kijk ernaar uit u te ontmoeten op de praktijk!
