You are pregnant and a number of things need to be arranged.
Here is a list of a few things:
1e trimester
- If you are taking medication, contact your GP/healthcare provider to discuss whether this medication is suitable during pregnancy.
- Have you thought about childcare yet? This really needs to be applied for in good time.
- Register for maternity care. Most maternity care agencies appreciate it if you register early in your pregnancy.
2e trimester
- Course: consider a course such as yoga, pregnancy swimming, etc. Most courses start around the 28th week.
- Course at the practice: If you would like to participate in one or both of the courses/information sessions offered by the practice, please inform the assistant in good time!
- Registering for the Birth Center. Do you already know where you want to give birth? If you choose the Birth Center, you must register in time!
- Employer: If you work, you must inform your employer of your pregnancy. However, legally, this is only required 3 months before the due date. You can obtain a pregnancy certificate from us at the practice; this is also for your employer. This allows you to take this into account when planning your maternity leave.
- Requesting the maternity package: you can request this from your health insurer. It is possible that your insurance does not cover this, in which case you can purchase the items yourself.
- Acknowledgment: if you are not married, inquire about the acknowledgment of the baby.
3e trimester
- Bed on blocks: preferably at a height of 80 cm, and borrow a bedpan. You can borrow the blocks and the bedpan from the Home Care Equipment Rental Service.
- Go-bag: make sure you have a go-bag ready. If you unexpectedly have to go to the hospital, it already contains everything you need.
- Check all the lists one more time.
