Janita Simonse-Timmerman

Even as a girl, I thought it would be fun to become a midwife. In 2005, with my graduation as a midwife, a dream became a reality. I first worked in several other practices in the region and started working at Verloskundigen Rotterdam West in 2007. Initially as a locum, and from 2010 as a practice owner. I find my work so beautiful because I am directly involved in the development of new life. I enjoy guiding expectant parents through all the new and beautiful things, but also through the uncertainties and discomfort that pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period bring.

I qualified as an ultrasound technician in 2011. I find the first ultrasound particularly special to perform because the hidden life suddenly becomes very visible: a very special moment.

Together with my husband Peter, I have three lovely children: Sofie, Abel, and Stef. Motherhood allows me to empathize with your situation even better. Of course, every birth remains a unique experience.
